I don’t like braggarts or pretentious hipsters but I don’t like over-exposure and the media. If you found a song or band because of a tv show or a cover, that’s fine, but please, don’t let that eradicate the history behind that song or artist. 

And for the record, I know and love this song from way before Walk The Earth’s video and cover, which is really good, and before it was on Weeds.

Also, I knew about Head and the Heart, specifically Rivers and Roads before it was on How I Met Your Mother or Chuck.

I don’t say that to brag, but to point out that the songs exist apart from their pop culture relevance. As all music should. And if it cannot stand on it’s own, apart from it’s pop culture relevance, then, to me, it’s not real music.
